River Avon - Newbridge
This stretch of river is as good as any in the south-west, if not the country with loads of bream, roach, hybrids and chub for the match and pleasure angler; as well as big pike for specimen anglers. The bream average 4 to 5 pounds and 100 lb catches are commonplace. Also, the numbers of good roach (1 lb plus) are impressive with quite a few 2 pounders being caught every season.
River Avon - Batheaston
Fishing is from the small triangular piece of land on right hand bank downstream of the Toll Bridge opposite the weir. Although there are only 3 swims, the potential is enormous. There is a large area of water to fish and it is known to hold good barbel, pike and all other Avon species.
River Avon - Claverton The Island
A real hot-spot for specimen fish including barbel, chub and pike. Fishing can be quite superb and as good as anywhere on the river.
Hunstrete Lakes
Superb fishing, beautiful background and peaceful surroundings with three lakes at Hunstrete; close to Bristol, Bath and Keynsham. The two newest lakes – Withy and Bridge Pools – were established with the help of a substantial Lottery Grant and, thanks to the magnificent efforts of a hard-core of club members – they both have a natural appearance and have a reputation for some of the best fishing in the area. Over 2000 trees were planted on the slopes overlooking the lakes adding to the overall effect.
Bagwood Lake
Bagwood lake at Woodlands is roughly 4 acres in size and is stocked with approximately 250 Carp,which can be up to 35lbs in wieght. Please make sure you have a ticket before you set up to fish.
Upper Tamar Lake
This quiet lake is very well stocked with carp well over 30lb with a good head of 20s. The lake record is a 46lb mirror carp caught in 2007. Regular 48 hour carp competitions are held with limited space available. Like Porth it is recognised as a major match fishing competition water. 50lb bags of bream and roach can be expected. Trenchford
This reservoir on Dartmoor offers excellent pike fishing with fish to 30lb. Methods that can be used - spinners, plug, fly, dead sea fish (no livebaiting). See recommendations and restrictions in permit hut. Boats for angling are available to book, please book at least 48 hours in advance by calling the Dartmoor Fisheries Assistant.
Squabmoor
This fishery has a good head of carp to 25lb, roach to 3lb and good tench. Situated in the heart of an area of Special Scientific Interest on Woodbury Common. Ideal for family fishing.
Porth
This fishery produces good sport with match weights of 70lb of bream. Bags of 130lb plus have been caught by pleasure anglers. Best bream 9lb 2oz, best tench 9lb 12oz. Rudd to 2lb, roach 2lb plus, carp to 25lb and pike to 22lb. Mixed bags of roach, rudd and skimmers to 60lb. A great competition water contact 01566 771930 for bookings.
