Angel of the North Fishing Lakes is a premier fishing complex of beautiful carp and coarse fishing lakes, in County Durham, near Gateshead, Tyne and Wear. The three lakes include a pleasure and match carp fishing lake and extend over more than 8 acres of water, set in 15 acres of carefully landscaped grounds.
Bowes Lake - Pleasure and Match Lake
Bowes has matured fantastically since September 2004 and now has a stable ecosystem in place with lots of natural food for the carp. Your approach in your choice of methods and feed patterns will give you fantastic rewards whether you are a match, pleasure or specimen angler.
Match
Best weight out in a 3 hour match has been 121lb by Andy Simpson. There is a good range of carp to suit match anglers. Angel of the North Fishing Lakes supplies keepnets.
Pleasure Anglers
There is a full range of sizes of carp to suit every angler. Our stock fish are now in the 2.5lb to 5lb range, with a good number in the 8lb to 15lb range. Our own carp which have been born and bred in Angel Lakes over the last 3 years range from 8oz to 2lb right up to specimen size - best out in 2007 was 31lb 5oz.
Lookout Lake
Lookout Lake covers over three acres and is stocked with a variety of coarse fish.
Bassett’s Pond
The small Bassett’s Pond, of about one third of an acre, offers novice, family and some good fishing for the coarse angler especially in adverse weather as it is the most sheltered of our lakes.
