The coarse fishery at Blackland Lakes is comprised of two Lakes; the larger Heron Lake is approximately 1 acre with depths ranging from 4 to 12 feet. The second is Stans Lake over half an acre with depths from 4 to 9 feet. The later one was named after Stan Haines who constructed them in 1983 with his massive dragline excavator. The Chalky water has proved to be ideal for fish and they are in excellent condition.
Both Lakes are well stocked and contain Mirror carp up to 35 lbs, Tench to 4 lb, Roach to 2. 5lb Perch to 3lb Bream to 9lb, Crucian Carp to 3lb, Rudd and Gudgeon. Additional stocking was carried out in 2009.
Night Fishing is allowed by arrangement. There is adequate room around both lakes for bivvies on nearly all swims. Fishing Matches: enquires invited. The Covered BBQ is also available and catering can be arranged.
Fishing Rules Barbless Hooks only No Loose Ground Bait (pva bags and feeder methods are accepted) Two Rod Limit Keepnets only by arrangements for matches and limited species Children under 14 years must be accompanied by and Adult NB. Excessive Ground Bait fouls the water and has a negative effect on fishing.
