Carney Pools is a picturesque 12 acre site on the edge of Cannock Chase, located between Rugeley and Stafford. There are two coarse fishing pools known as Damsel and Dragon Pool, both available for day tickets and match anglers.
Damsel Pool
The main species in Damsel Pool are tench, roach, bream, gudgeon, chub and a strong head of carp around 4lb - 5lb. This is a great pool for the beginner and serious anglers alike and is also available for private matches but these are limited to stop over fishing of the pool.
The new match record for Damsel Pool stands at 123lb (July 10).
Damsel Pool is about 1.4 acres in size with twenty three pegs; several pegs are designed for disabled anglers. There is adjacent car parking to the disabled pegs. The pool has an island and the water depth graduates from approximately three feet to five feet.
Dragon Pool
The main species in Dragon are carp, tench, roach and bream. Carp averaging 6lb - 7lb. In April 2010, Dragon Pool under went a stocking programme to introduce match size carp of 1lb to 1.5lb. The aim being to stock the pool similar to that of Damsel Pool.
The pool hosts an island and has a depth which varies from three feet to approximately seven feet near to the island. There is an accessible peg near to the fishing lodge.
