Comprising a twenty five acre main lake, a five acre match lake and a heavily stocked junior pool Farlows really does have something for everyone. The current stock in the main lake was boosted in 2007 when an ongoing restocking programme saw Carp to 30lb being introduced, the final figure should show the stocking of at least one hundred carp into the main lake including a few more thirties. This along with the capture of new thirties in 2007 sees the stock in the main lake include over thirty six Carp that can be in excess of thirty pounds to the current reported venue record of 38lb 14oz, over three hundred twenty pluses and hundreds of doubles. As with most Primarily carp waters other species have been growing well on the carp anglers bait and 2007 threw up a few surprises including bream to 14lb, a 2lb 9oz Roach and a couple of Perch just over 4lb.

Farlows Lake continues to be one of the countries most popular day ticket waters with anglers traveling from all over the country. The lake contains an awful lot of fish and with the amount of quality bait that goes in over the year the fish are growing well. At last count there are about thirty six fish that can be over thirty pounds at the right time of year with eighty percent of these being full time thirties. There are hundreds of fish that are over twenty pounds and god knows how many doubles. The current lake record stands at 38lb 14oz which was a fish known as the ‘Big Italian’ , this fish has not been caught for a couple of years now and many anglers though that it had got trapped in the Match Lake when we permanently separated the two waters. However in March this season Carp TV were down filming with Ian Russell and whilst ‘up a tree’ they spotted a very large Carp in the snags of Pads Bay. Ian thought that this fish looked like the ‘Big Italian’ and whilst he couldn’t positively identify it he was sure that the fish they were watching was over 40lb so who knows!. The bar and café complex were taken over by Boyer Leisure Ltd over the winter of 2007/2008 and has been going from strength to strength. The café is open seven days a week from 8am til 2pm and later on Bank Holidays and summer weekends, we have also introduced evening menu’s which are available through the bar.

Farlows Match Lake has become an incredibly popular venue over the last few years. Regular stockings with Silvers has seen match weights regulary exceed one hundred pounds and even in the Winter months has regulary produced bags over eighty pounds. Due to it’s popularity the lake is booked for matches on most Sundays and Wednesdays so please check with Farlows Tackle prior to visiting on these days. Farlows Lake will once again host a qualifying round of the British Carp Championships over the weekend of the 17th - 19th April 2009.
