Milemead Fisheries consists of 3 Coarse Lakes of approximately two acres each plus a small Canal stretch offering superb fishing for anglers of all abilities. The Lakes are situated in a peaceful and picturesque valley only one mile from Tavistock.
Specimen Carp Lake
Our exclusive 2 acre Specimen Carp Lake is our most challenging water, it is exclusively stocked with quality Carp averaging 15 lbs, plenty of twenties and at least one known 30 lb plus Mirror "Bertie".
The Lake is perfect for the experienced carp angler or anyone seeking their first "Twenty".
An extra peg, Number 7 has been added at the far end of the Lake ensuring maximum accessibility to all areas of the Lake.
The Lake has also been enlarged and re-shaped opposite Peg 2 with a new feature of a gently shelving bank added.
Carp Lake
This is a well established lake stocked with eleven species and is our most popular and accessible lake. Ghost, Common and Mirror Carp to 20 lbs are the main species with a good head of small Bream and bonus Tench.
This lake is also renowned for having some of the biggest Roach in Devon with a current record of 2 lb 10 oz’s.
Most of the usual waggler and ledger methods work well, with maggot, sweetcorn, meat and bread being the favourite baits. In the warmer months the carp will respond well to floating baits.
Catches of 100 lb are common and 200 lb plus bags are taken every year.
The Fishery record currently stands at 100 carp (Total weight 280 lbs) caught by an angler in one session.
Match Lake
This Lake is very well stocked with Carp to 10 lb, Bream and Tench to 4 lbs, as well as Roach, Rudd, Crucians, Barbel and Chub.
Open matches are held throughout the year on alternate Sundays, along with our popular Summer League evening matches held on Thursdays between May and August.
Although constructed with the match angler in mind, this Lake is also perfect for pleasure fishermen of all abilities.
There are 30 well spaced pegs and the Lake is available for Club or Group Match bookings.
Canal
Fun fishing for Roach, Rudd, Bream, Tench, Gudgeon and small Carp.
The Canal is perfect for Beginners or Anglers wanting a busy session with a whip.
