Shillinglee Fisheries on the Surrey / Sussex border consists of five ponds, the main lake a beautiful spring fed lake of approximately 6.5 Acres in size with lots of natural features and wildlife. The fishery has been run as a day ticket water since 1995 and prior to that it was run as an exclusive syndicate water.
Specimen Lake is open all year round for coarse fishing and October to March for Pike fishing, with day tickets bought on the bankside.
The Pike are best caught on fresh dead bait. The forty pounder has been caught on mackerel and sardine, the bigger the better. Because of the size of the pike we strictly enforce the rules with regard to non barbed trebles, so do not think of using barbed hooks please.
Silverdale was formed in 1995 by damming one of the springs that feed the main lake, it is 2.5 metres deep in the middle and is used as a breeding pond for our carp, the pond also has a good stock of Golden Rudd up to a lb and a few tench. If easy fishing is what you are looking for then silverdale should supply easy fishing with a dozen or so carp caught in a session. Recently some nice 3lb. carp have been caught by the waterfall.
Foxdale is a series of three ponds. They are extremely pretty small ponds brimming with smashing Golden Rudd, they love maggots and bread, sit quietly and simply enjoy these beautiful fish in a idyllic woodland setting.
These ponds are open in the summer only May to October and are available for hire which includes BBQ and woodland seating for groups and families of up to 10. This is designed to be a a family day out in a beautiful setting as much as well as being a fun days fishing.
