Wyreside Fisheries is a 4.5. acre lake, situated alongside the River Wyre, 15 minutes from the M6, from Preston and from Lancaster as well as being just 15 minutes from Blackpool. The lake is well matured, set in a peaceful location with abundant wildlife.
Fifteen purpose built swims have been created with ample room for bivvys and rods and every swim has features to fish to, be that island, reeds, lilies, overhanging trees etc. Stone and gravel areas have been introduced to the lake and weed growth is now strictly controlled.
Fishing is by day ticket with set rates for up to 12, 24 and 48 hours. Fishing for longer periods is at a cheaper rate and discount is available if 3 or more pegs are pre-booked and paid for by one payment. Rates are available from the Fishery Office on 01995 679695. Bookings can only be made in person at the office or on the telephone.
The Fish
Approximately 250 specimen carp reside in the lake weighting up to 36lbs in weight with an excellent head of good doubles and twenties. The lake boasts all different types of Carp: Common, Mirror, Leather, Ghosties, Koi, Grass and all of these go into double figure weights. As well as Carp, the lake also holds several Catfish the biggest recorded specimen so far was a fish of 50lbs 2oz.
